Effect of culture on brain development

Research shows that rats raised in enriched environments have more connections intheir brains than rats raised in barren environments and that enrichment affects brainstructure at all ages and is associated with the creation of new neurons. (by the way, exercise appears to be associated with similar benefits).
In this essay I would like you to examine how your personal “culture ” might have  effected your brain development in the past (growing up) and how it affects you today, aswell as discuss what you could do NOW to improve your mental functioning. It may be helpful for this exercise to imagine what circumstances may lead tochildren growing up in a “barren” environment, consider examples of how your environment was either enriched or hindered you in terms of school success.
