Operational planning process

The same operational planning process provided a higher sortie rate and tactical agility. The Air Force and Navy portrayed great operational capacity during Operation Iraqi Freedom between both land and carrier-based strike fighters. The Air Force’s land-based strike fighters have a lower unit cost overall, which provides fiscal flexibility during those operations.

There is a psychological aspect to land-based strike fighters joining naval operations. When they join the fight, there is an intuitive commitment from the United States to that operation. On the bomber side of the conversation, land-based bombers alleviate deck constraints in general and the utilization of both Air Force and Navy assets together achieve greater stealth.
