“AMERICAN POLITICAL CULTURE” In the chapter on American Political Culture, the authors of your textbook identify several shared values, beliefs, and attitudes that shape Americans’ views and understanding of the world. These include in no particular order: Liberty, Individualism, Equality, and Self-Government. The authors point out that there tends to be disagreement over how these ideas are applied and balanced with each other, but they serve as America’s foundational values.
