The theoretical approaches to law are best when used together as lenses to interpret the world
The theoretical approaches to the law are best when used together as lenses to interpret the world (i.e., you should probably not adopt any of these theoretical approaches in full, but utilize each when analyzing international relations and determine which appears most appropriate to use in a given situation).
In this week’s readings and lectures we covered realist, liberal, Marxist/Marxian, and constructivist approaches to international law, international organizations, and international relations generally.
With that said, most close observers of international relations generally lean more towards a realist, liberal, Marxist/Marxian, or constructivist worldview. Based on your current knowledge and thinking, which of these theoretical approaches do you think most accurately describes the world of international relations as it actually exists today?
