Systems approach to training and development

You have recently been hired as the human resources manager of a large drug store chain operating across Ontario. You’ve seen data that states that there are stores not meeting expectations for sales. You have found out that the sales staff is a mix of newly hired and more tenured employees, both full and part-time. As one of your first priorities you’ve been asked to determine whether training is an issue.

Based on this scenario complete the four steps in the systems approach to training and development. Specifically, consider these questions: (1) How will you determine if there is a need for training at these stores?  (2) What is a possible learning or training objective you could identify? (3) What methods would you use to implement training? (4) How would you evaluate if the training was effective?
