Different areas of responsibility for each level of government
Government in Canada? A photo journal of my relationship.
- Do Self Reflection about your relationship with Government in Canada.
- Write an introductory paragraph for 5-8 sentences. You do not need a photo with this paragraph; it is optional. Start with an image showing details. End this paragraph with your thesis statement. In this class, the thesis sentence is the last sentence of the first paragraph.
- Collect 10-20 photographs and 5 news articles that represent your theme and subject matter. You must take the photographs yourself. Choose photographs that are visually interesting.
- Now, write your body paragraphs to accompany these photos. Write concise, sharp, meaningful text for each photo. Analyze the photo and how it develops your thesis. Each body paragraph should be between 5 – 8 sentences.
- Your Essay should consider at least 3 of the modules covered in class.
- Write a conclusion paragraph of 5-8 sentences to end your essay. A conclusion paragraph should explain to the reader how you have changed. Offer explanations, and challenge the reader to change his or her behavior or thoughts about the issues you face as an international student. You do not need a photograph for this paragraph; it is optional.
- The main focus of your photo essay should be to use both your writing and your photos to communicate your thesis to your audience.
- Organize your photos and text with a clear beginning, middle, and end. The text will take the reader on a journey through your photos; make certain that journey is worth taking.
- The final product may take the form of a PowerPoint presentation, booklet, or any other creative format but it must meet the criteria above. Make sure not to lose focus that it is an essay. Carefully consider the appearance of your final product; be sure that it reflects your creativity, thought, and planning.
- Create an original and captivating title for your essay.
- You must submit it digitally through Moodle.
Some ideas you might want to think about are:
- What are the different areas of responsibility for each level of government: municipal, provincial, and federal?
- Which level of government has the most impact in your life?
- For each level of government, what are the issues or areas of responsibility and explain how it relates or directly affects your life.
- Using the concept of political significance explain the impact of the issue or area of responsibility on your life. Use “I” statements to personalize your captions.
