Awareness of key issues of Corporate Responsibility and Ethics

Students will develop a y presentation media of their choice, such as PowerPoint, Keynote or Prezi, that is designed to train senior executives at a global for-profit organization for the following purposes:

  1. Awareness of key issues of Corporate Responsibility and Ethics in 2022.
  2. Current research findings from respected national and/or global organizations that provide reliable backup data about these key issues.
  3. Recommended policies and procedures that these senior executives can implement at their organizations to mitigate the impact of the key issues which relate most specifically to the primary business sectors and regions of the world in which they operate.

The presentation should be based upon research and not opinion.  In addition to the resources from this course found in the text, Business Ethics (Links to an external site.), recommended additional sources of reliable data include:

  • Transparency International: https://www.transparency.org/en/about (Links to an external site.)
  • Ethics and Compliance Initiative: https://www.ethics.org/ (Links to an external site.)
  • Center for Business Ethics: https://www.bentley.edu/centers/center-for-business-ethics/resources/international-ethics-organizations (Links to an external site.)
  • Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University: https://www.scu.edu/ethics/ (Links to an external site.)
  • Ethisphere: https://www.ethisphere.com/ (Links to an external site.)
  • National Council of Nonprofits: https://www.councilofnonprofits.org/ (Links to an external site.)
  • Association for Practical and Professional Ethics: https://www.appe-ethics.org/ (Links to an external site.)
  • Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics: https://www.corporatecompliance.org/ (Links to an external site.)
  • United States Office of Government Ethics: https://www.oge.gov/ (Links to an external site.)

The student will select either a particular region of the world, a specific industry, or one, actual company for the focus or subject of this presentation. The only restriction is that students MAY NOT select one of the 131 companies that were recognized by Ethisphere as a member of “The 2022 World’s Most Ethical Companies Honoree® List” (Links to an external site.).  A good suggestion for students who wish to target their presentation to an actual company in need of upgrading their standards of business integrity and corporate citizenship would be to review the list of the 131 honorees and then research and select an organization in the same industry and/or region of the world that did not make it to this list, and compare these two companies to determine what changes are needed to elevate that company to the level of the member honored by Ethisphere.

Comparing to another company which is doing an excellent job with their standards of business integrity and corporate citizenship, or benchmarking (Links to an external site.), as it is called, would be one effective way to structure the student presentation, although this is not required, just recommended.
