Factors of Human diversity

Identify why your client is considered vulnerable and oppressed. What factors of human diversity are present, if any? Are there any concerns you have about your client stemming from systemic prejudice or discrimination? If so, list them.

2. Research professional journals on your client population including their problems and any area of human diversity. You also want to research “best practices” for interventions with your client. Be sure to provide citations from any information you get from websites or academic journals. Any factual statement should have a citation.

3. Explore the knowledge, education level, and skills required by the social worker to successfully work with this client. Use your SWK 101 book as a resource, too. It lists many important competencies required of social workers. You only need to list 3-5. (Remember in this project, you are a BSW and cannot provide any form of therapy. You may refer your client out for that, but YOU ARE NOT providing it.)

The term Marketing

What comes to mind when you consider the term marketing? Whether you are familiar with the concept (perhaps working in the field) or have a vague idea of what it means (i.e., unsure how it differs from advertising), it is almost a certainty that marketing has a significant impact on your decision making as a consumer.

Think about some of your favorite brands, products that you must have in your fridge or pantry, or services that fall into the “necessities” column of your budget. How did marketing play a role in introducing those products and services to you and in influencing your decision to purchase them? In this Discussion, you will consider the impact of marketing on consumers, including yourself.

To prepare for this Discussion:

· Review this week’s Learning Resources. Consider how consumers make decisions, as well as how marketing is used to condition consumers and affect their cultural mindsets.

By Day 3

****Post an analysis of the role of marketing on consumer decision making, to include the following:

· In your own words, analyze how marketing affects the decisions consumers make.

· Appraise the role of marketing in your life and how awareness can change the minds of consumers when buying products or services.

· To support your analysis, identify two or three examples of marketing.

Community Program Interview

Community Program Interview For this assignment, each student will choose a community program to research and set up a time to interview a person from that agency (phone or e-mail).

My hope for this assignment is that you will make a connection to a community program that offers support, education, and resources for families with young children. Please consider finding an agency/program that works with families considered to need extra support or historically underserved. The program you choose must be inclusive. They cannot exclude anyone for race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, color, age, national origin, gender, or sexual expression.

Please include the agency/program you choose non-discrimination statement.

Outline (It would be good although not required  to format your assignment with this outline)

1. Name of Program

2. Introduction and Summary of Program

3. Interview: After you have chosen your community program, please arrange a time to call or e-mail an interview with someone from that program/agency. When you call/e-mail, introduce yourself, explain that you are a college student working on a class assignment, and you would like to interview someone from the agency. You could have a summary of our class (from the syllabus) to read to let them know what kind of class this is. Please call weeks in advance to give yourself plenty of time to arrange the interview and complete the assignment on time. Research the program online before you call to familiarize yourself with its mission, get background & contact information, and confirm that they are inclusive and non-discriminatory.

*Questions for the interview (these are just ideas, you may need to create questions that fit your particular agency, please include at least 10 questions) This part may be in bullet points answering each question or a paragraph summarizing the answer and conversation.

· What is your role in this program/organization?

· Who and what ages do you serve?

· What are the goals of this program?

· What kind of support and resources does this agency need to be effective?

· Do you have special goals and strategies to reach families that may be “at-risk”?

· How do you work with other community and educational programs?

· What is the biggest barrier your program faces?

· What does your program need to reach more families and children? Is there a need for more support or services like yours?

· What services or programs would you add, if you could, to help families with young children?

· What is the best part of this program/organization/school/etc.?

· How has your agency/program been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic?

4. Summary:

· What are your thoughts about this community program?

· What surprised you?

· Why did you choose this program?

· Did anything inspire you?

Secondary reports

Secondary reports have two specific goals. First, it requires you to understand the case well enough to identify 3 major issues facing the firm. Second, it requires you to understand how course concepts can be used/applied to the case to make informed managerial decisions.

All The strategies are provided below in the videos:

Presenting Patient education

Discuss a patient of another culture. How can the health care professional communicate in presenting patient education? Consider language, family, cultural differences, and method of communication.

Market Hypothesis and its implications on financial decisions.

Explain the Efficient Market Hypothesis and its implications on financial decisions. Your assessment will focus on an interesting theoretical concept called the Efficient Markets Hypothesis (EMH). This concept tries to provide adequate answers to such questions as, “Are stocks in equilibrium?” and “Is it possible for an investor to consistently ‘beat the market’ without any inside information?”

Preparation

Read the following article:

  • Malkiel, B. G. (1989). Is the stock market efficient? Science243(4896), 1313–1318.
    • Malkiel is a seminal, foundational author in the field. Everything you read about the EMH will refer back to this fundamental explanation of the EMH theory. As you read this article, pay particular attention to the three levels of market efficiency to help you prepare for your assessment.

In addition, conduct research in the Capella library or the Internet on different perspectives on the EMH. You might try using search terms such as “efficient market hypothesis controversy” and “efficient market hypothesis perspectives” to obtain relevant results.

Instructions

Use your research to complete the following:

  • Explain the EMH.
  • Distinguish among the three levels of market efficiency.
  • Briefly explain the implications of the EMH on financial decisions by individual investors.

Use at least two research resources to support your ideas.

Manufacturing Overhead costs

Watson Industries is in the process of analyzing its manufacturing overhead costs. Management is not sure if the number of units produced or the number of direct labor (DL) hours is the best cost driver to use for predicting manufacturing overhead (MOH) costs. The following information is available:

MonthManufacturing CostsDirect Labor HoursUnits ProducedMOH Cost per DL HourMOH Cost per Unit Produced
July$485,00025,0003.800$19.40$127.63
August$540,00026,7004,360$20.22$123.85
September$420,00020,0004,210$21.00$99.76
October$462,00021,9003,450$21.10$133.91
November$579,00032,0005,600$18.09$103.39
December$455,00020,4003,270$22.30$139.14

Requirements

1. Are manufacturing overhead costs fixed, variable, or mixed? Explain.

2. Graph the company’s manufacturing overhead costs against DL hours.

3. Graph the company’s manufacturing overhead costs against units produced.

4. Do the data appear to be sound, or do you see any potential data problems? Explain.

5. Use the high-low method to determine the company’s manufacturing overhead cost equation using DL hours as the cost driver. Assume that management believes all the data to be accurate and wants to include all of it in the analysis.

6. Estimate manufacturing overhead costs if the company incurs 26,000 DL hours in January.

Exercise 2

2. E7-44B Prepare contribution margin income statements

Hopper Travel uses the contribution margin income statement internally. Hopper’s second-quarter results are as follows:

ABc
1. Worldwide Travel
2. Contribution Margin Income Statement
3. Three Months Ended June 30
4.
5. Sales Revenue$500,000
6. Less: Variable expenses120,000
7. Contribution margin$380,000
8. Less: Fixed expenses

171,000
Operation Income$209,000

Hopper’s relevant range is sales of between $100,000 and $640,000.

Requirements

1. Prepare contribution margin income statements at sales levels of $200,000 and $420,000. (Hint: Use the contribution margin ratio.)

2. Compute breakeven sales in dollars.

Exercise 3

3. A7-82 CVP analysis by intern with an ethical dilemma

Horner Work Wear, Inc., supplies uniforms for a variety of businesses. Collin Hoffman is a new intern in the Accounting Department at Horner. To expand sales, the company is considering paying commissions to its sales force. The controller, John Wallace, asks Collin to complete an analysis assuming sales would increase 25% under the proposed sales commission plan. This analysis should include 1) the new breakeven sales figure and 2) the operating profit under the new sales commission plan.

Collin does his best to perform the analysis. He is not exactly sure what he is doing but he does not want to appear like he does not understand accounting. After he gets his preliminary analysis finished, he calls his friend, Meghan Peyton, who is an accounting analyst at Scrubs and More, a competing uniform supplier. He knows Meghan from a church group and figures he can trust her. He tells her he is working on a new project and asks her if they can meet for dinner later, where he can ask her advice.

At dinner, Collin confesses to Meghan that he really does not know if he did his analysis correctly. Meghan assures him that she has worked on similar things at her company. She asks him if they can go over the analysis together. He readily agrees because this is just the type of help, he had hoped to get. He shows her the spreadsheet he has been working on; the two of them discuss each item on the analysis. Collin explains his reasoning behind each calculation and his data assumptions. Meghan tells him that his analysis is thorough and agrees that he has done it all correctly as far as she can tell.

Now confident in his work, Collin turns in the proposed sales commission plan analysis the following day. His report ends with a recommendation that the new sales commission plan be undertaken, since it will lead to a significant increase in operating income with only a small increase in breakeven sales. John Wallace glances through the report and is impressed with the appearance of the report; it looks professional and complete. Since John has a lot of other work tasks, he approves the new sales commission plan without any further analysis or investigation.

When he is booking some payroll entries the following week, Collin realizes that he made an error in the CVP analysis he did for the sales commission project. He failed to include the monthly salaries of the sales staff in his computations. Collin is in a panic. If he tells John Wallace of his mistake, Collin is afraid he will not be offered a full-time position upon completion of his internship. Collin decides to keep quiet and not let the controller know of his error. He reasons that it is unlikely that the difference between what he projected versus the actual expenses will be discovered since Horner does not create detailed monthly operating statements.

Requirements

1. Using the IMA Statement of Ethical Professional Practice as an ethical framework, answer the following questions:

a. What is (are) the ethical issue(s) in this situation?

b. What are Collin Hoffman’s responsibilities as a management accountant?

c. What are John Wallace’s responsibilities as a management accountant?

d. What are Meghan Peyton’s responsibilities as a management accountant?

2. What would be the impact on breakeven sales from failing to include the fixed monthly salaries? Would the breakeven using the erroneous data be lower or higher than the correct breakeven (the breakeven calculation including the monthly salaries)? Do you think this error would be likely to influence the decision of whether to proceed with the new sales commission proposal?

3. Discuss the specific steps Collin should take to resolve the situation. Refer to the IMA Statement of Ethical Professional Practice in your response.

Leadership and Management Attributes

Assignment – Leadership and Management Attributes. Evaluate leadership and management attributes that support critical decisions for nursing practice.

Scenario

You have recently started a position as a department director with five managers reporting to you. Earlier today, one of your managers reports that a client expired on her unit. She suspects that a factor that may have contributed to the client’s demise may be related to the actions of a nurse on her unit. This nurse has several notes in her personnel file that reflect potential client abuse. You and the nurse manager both have concerns that this sentinel event must be investigated.

Later in the day, the Chief Nursing Officer asks you to speak to new nurse managers to share attributes of leadership with the plan of enhancing their leadership skills. You see an opportunity to combine the situation of the client with a bad outcome, due to the alleged influence of one of the nurses, while building information to share this real-life situation with new nurse leaders.

Instructions

As a follow up to the investigation of the client’s unexpected death, generate an internal memo to your managers to reflect leadership and management attributes and include steps taken to investigate this unfortunate situation. As you create this memo, keep in mind that you should include:

At least five leadership and/or management attributes for nurse leaders, as well as how they can improve client outcomes.

Steps you would take to ensure the collection of data regarding this incident.

Describe how transformational leadership style may influence the process of investigating this professional nurse colleague that reports to one of your unit managers.

Provides stated ideas with professional language and attribution for credible sources with correct APA citation, spelling, and grammar.
