Bringing unions and employer groups together in a collaborative manner

In response to the election of the Australian Labor Party (Labor) to Federal Government, the

Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACI) congratulated Labor and took a pluralist

stance by stating: “ACCI will seek to be an active participant in Labor’s proposed employment summit.

Bringing unions and employer groups together in a collaborative manner will be an important

opportunity to reform our ailing enterprise bargaining system, bolstering productivity and driving

higher wages growth”.

Identify and discuss likely points of disagreement that might impede achieving collaboration on

reforms to the industrial relations system at the proposed employment summit. In your discussion,

use Boxall and Purcell’s four goals of human resource management (HM) to characterize why

employers may advocate different reforms from Labor and unions.

Commission on Homelessness and Poverty

The interest group that I chose is through the ABA, commission on Homelessness and Poverty. This interest group spreads awareness on the rising homeless population in our country, and how to better assist those in need. This interest group really focuses on the youth or younger homelessness.

This interests me because I volunteer at a food bank in our area and have seen the homelessness, poverty and the need for volunteers in the communities. It also interests me because I feel like those who are homeless are looked down upon and are in some instances not treated like human beings. Helping those in need can be as simple as buying food, giving a small bag of essentials (deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, body soap, etc.), or even volunteering at a local food bank!

This interest group can be identified as a societal interest group. “This toolkit provides communities with a variety of resources related to preventing and addressing youth homelessness, advocacy strategies, and materials to address many other issues.” Since this is work of the community and can effect the community I can see this as societal. It can effect the community as well through the large amount of garbage and wastes on the streets. As a society we are called to help others!

Association of people with disabilities

The name of my interest group is about the association of people with disabilities.  Disability is a natural part of the human experience that influences all of us. there is a Group called the AAPD and it has been helping people with disability and train them. it interest me because back in high school I was a trainer of the special aid students and I got to learn and see how they react and see things from there point of view. I also got to try many things and do things that made them move away from there comfort zone and try new things that might be in there interest.

this can be identified as a group because disability is a very common thing and there are ALOT of people with it. there are also many different ways and many different kind of disability. there is also many groups and companies that are trying to figure or tried to find a way to make disabled people feel comfortable anywhere. also the AAPD is a non-profit cross-disability with people with different kinds, organization whose goals important with unity, leadership, and impact, which are the hopes and convictions of people with disabilities and are necessary to ensure the future of inclusion promise.

Vision of both libertarians and communists

Vision of both libertarians and communists   that the state should “wither away,” though for different reasons and in different ways. Libertarians tend to follow John Stuart Mill in believing that we are sovereigns over ourselves. As a result, the state should only be given the bare minimum amount of power, and only the most limited restrictions on individual liberty are acceptable. Communists follow Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in believing that the state is illegitimate and oppressive because it protects private property rights (and inequality), and that the state should therefore be overthrown.

How might Christians who call themselves libertarians, or who sympathize with Marx’s effort to organize the “oppressed” classes in rebellion against their “oppressors,” respond to the scriptural injunction in Romans 13:1: “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted….”?

Impact of the Barbary Wars

Impact of the Barbary Wars How were merchant ships traveling through the Mediterranean Sea stopped by pirates who attacked ships and demanded ransom for the crew? Barbary pirates comprised Morocco’s free realm and the three semi-self-governing Ottoman territories:

Tunis, Algiers, and Tripoli; together, North African states were causing havoc for the United States debate among leaders on how to combat this issue? Thomas Jefferson’s faith has long been a topic of discussion. It is believed that he agreed that Christianity was a morally just religion and one the behold. How did The Barbary negotiators divide the world into “Christian” and “Muslim” nations and deal with each differently?

During American engagements with Abd al-Rahman, the recurring notion of faith defining groups of people is prevalent. How Abd al-Rahman initially proclaims an interest in understanding the creation of America as a new and prosperous country and becomes growingly disenfranchised with the premise that America was built upon due to its difference in religion?Did Americans were naïve to think that their legitimacy as a newly established nation would allow them to impose restrictions and concessions on other nations and organizations, especially those far from the shores of America?

System of checks and balances

The framers envisioned all three branches of government operating within a system of checks and balances that would prevent any one branch from attaining too much power. Given what you have read, do you feel that our current model of government reflects this intention? Or, is one branch more or less powerful than the others?  In framing your answer, include examples of how each branch can exercise a check on the authority of another.
