Topographic map

Each topographic map, or quadrangle, is assigned a name. The name of the map is usually found in the upper-right corner in large print. What is the name of your map? 20. Locate the scale bar on the bottom of the map. What is the fractional scale for this map? 21. What is the contour interval of this map? Tip: this is often shown below the scale bar. 22. Most quadrangles have a small reference map, usually the shape of the state in which this map is found. There you can find a little box that represents the location of this specific map within the state. What is that general location?

Equatorial latitudes

The absolute highest values appear near the poles for the above dates.  How is this possible?  Shouldn’t the lower more equatorial latitudes be getting more radiation?  What is it about the Arctic and Antarctic during these months that account for the high radiation flux?

Cultural influence

Which are items that describe a cultural influence on a region? Amish men do not shave after they are married. Hawaii is an island. China limits urban families to one child. The tallest mountain in North America is in Alaska. New Year’s Eve is celebrated with fireworks in some South American countries. 5. prevention, screening. health promotion

Equator and tropics

If the equator and tropics never have negative Average Clear-sky Net Radiation values then they are always gaining heat.  Theoretically this means they should get dramatically hotter and hotter year after year but this clearly isn’t happening.  Likewise the average flux values for the poles are negative; they are losing heat yet they are not getting colder and colder.  Where must all the surplus heat from the equator and tropics go and how does it get there?

Greenhouse gases

How much incoming sunlight do greenhouse gases absorb

South and North Pole

What is the energy receipt difference between the south and North Pole in June?

Cirrostratus and altostratus clouds

What is the difference between cirrostratus and altostratus clouds? How can you tell the difference between these two cloud types?
