Legal and Ethical principles: Mr. Flynn – a morbidly obese 54-year-old patient of Dr. Money

Explain the legal and ethical principles that were violated in the following scenario:

Mr. Flynn was a morbidly obese 54-year-old patient of Dr. Money. Mr. Flynn was scheduled for a routine colonoscopy. On the day of the procedure, he met the GI nurse Lynette Money. She explained the procedure and explained that he would have an IV inserted by one of the preop nurses. The nurses had a difficult time and had to consult anesthesia. Mr. Flynn was no easy stick, and the anesthesiologist, Dr. A. Sleep, had to resort to an ultrasound machine to find a suitable vein for IV access. Mr. Flynn was uneasy and nearly fainted. He was sweating profusely. ” I never get used to this!” He pointed to the IV.” They always have a hard time,” he said.

Finally, with everything in place, the patient was brought into the GI suite.

It is a typical practice that a patient’s belongings are placed underneath the patient’s stretcher. As Mr. Flynn was hooked up to the monitors, Cassandra Bythely CRNA introduces herself and explains the types of anesthesia he will have. After the pause for the cause, she administers lidocaine followed by propofol. Since Mr. Flynn has sleep apnea, Cassandra has to do a chin lift and inserts an oral airway. Mr. Flynn settles down, and Dr. Money begins the colonoscopy.

Lynette Money raises her eyebrows at her husband, Dr. Money, the circulating nurse in the room. “ Boy, oh boy, can you see anything? “ “ It was probably hard for him to just eat clears yesterday,” Dr. Money chuckles. “ Not everyone can have a nice body like you love” Lynette blows him a kiss. The surgical technician, Able Body, laughs and says, “ This dude can afford to miss a meal!! “ Dr. Money says, “Well if he did a decent prep, he might lose a few!!!” Cassandra mutters, “ Damn he is really going through the propofol, I have given enough for a farm animal!!! “ “ For a cow, you mean? “ chides Lynette. Dr. Money says, “ I think you mean Bull, dear. “ They all laugh.

After the procedure and after his stay in the PACU, Mr. Flynn gathers his personal items. He notices that his phone battery is nearly depleted. Since he has always been self-conscious about his weight, he leaves his phone to record his procedures. This time he is shocked and dismayed to hear the conversation during the colonoscopy. He checks out of PACU and heads up to his cousin’s office, the CEO of the hospital, Dr. Al Right.

Within a week, all responsible parties were fired, and Mr. Flynn decided to file a lawsuit.

Product Launch Comprehensive Strategy

For the Capstone assessment, you will create a Product Launch Comprehensive Strategy. The Capstone represents the final stage in your goal to obtain a Master’s Degree in Operations and Project Management. This final course will allow you to demonstrate proficiency in all areas of operations and project management. You will develop an overall, comprehensive strategy to bring a new product from design to mass production within a manufacturing or service environment. Along the way you will complete 3 critical stages of the development process that will require competent skills in project & operations management. You will also complete the three (3) stages of product launch demonstrating that the product or service has gone successfully from conception to high volume manufacturing or full service integration. Additionally, you will self-reflect on the overall program and project and operations management as a career focus. Evaluation of Capstone This Capstone will be assessed somewhat differently than other courses you have taken online at SNHU. There are four (4) separate components that will be submitted at different times during the course; however, they all operate together to comprise the whole Capstone experience and are not assessed separately. You will be evaluated on all four (4) of them as a unit in determining whether you have demonstrated proficiency in each outcome. All four (4) components must be completed at the highest levels as the strengths of one cannot “make up for” the weaknesses in another. Your work is expected to meet the highest professional standards. Remember, you are selling yourself as a competent operations and project management professional as much as you are selling your product launch strategy. The Capstone project is divided into three milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final submissions. These milestones will be submitted in Modules Two, Four, and Six. The draft submission for Capstone Component 1 is due in Module Seven, Capstone Component 2 is due in Module Eight, Capstone Component 3 is due in Module Nine, and Capstone Component 4 is due in Module Ten as part of the overall Final Submission which includes revised Components 1 through 3 followed by the self-reflection of Component 4.

Major areas of sociological interest

The first set of topics includes two major areas of sociological interest: religion and politics. We may not ordinarily think of popular music as an important feature of these two social institutions, but it certainly is. Music functions as a powerful tool for accomplishing religious and political tasks. This power comes from music’s ability to provide meaning for theology and ideology. Please indicate/reference the reading and page numbers in parentheses where you find the material in our books. Read Ch. 5 in Understanding.
(1) Briefly define religion sociologically. What are the five ways music relates to religion? Give an example for each from the reading
(2) Briefly describe John Michael Talbot. Why has he considered a postmodern case of authenticity? Google JMT and examine his homepage and view some of his recent cable TV programs. How has he incorporated contemporary media logic into his ministry? How do he and his ministry compare to your religious/spiritual upbringing
(3) Briefly define ideology. How can popular music be used for conservative as well as liberal/progressive purposes? How does the concept of hegemony fit in with this discussion? What side would you take, and what music fits your ideological position?
(4) What is the sociological definition of the institution? How does American Idol support conservative values in America? In what ways is The Voice, American Idol and other competitions like the American presidential election process?
_______________________________________
The second set of topics includes two areas of sociological interest: gender and social class. The purpose of this array of topics is to show how central popular music is to structural sociological analysis, that is, those aspects of society that reflect society as a whole and are closely related to macro ideas such as status differences and inequality. Please indicate the page numbers of the readings where you find the material. Read Ch. 6 in Understanding.
1) Summarize the West Memphis Three situation. How does this unfortunate situation illustrate the limits of community? Explore the Internet to see if there is any update on the case.
(2) What do sociologists mean by doing gender? Give another example of a current prima donna, besides Jessica Simpson. Name one male musical performer who can be considered a prima donna, and why?
(3) What is the sociological definition of authenticity? Briefly discuss Katy Perry’s and Billie Eilish’s authenticity. In your opinion, has authenticity among women musical artists changed recently?

The fundamental human drive for happiness

Compare and contrast the two plays, focusing especially on themes/ideas the two plays share in common or help illuminate. We will cover some of these in class, but a partial list would include such things as the divided life/identity; false dreams of self-fulfillment; the hunger for status, especially related to a certain amount of wealth and possessions; the fragmentation of family; the fundamental human drive for happiness; and so forth. The Actor’s Social/Cultural or Political reflection
This paper will focus on cultural/political/social reflection and the influence films and actors have had. Students choose one of the following actors and their films listed, watch the film, do some brief research, and write about the cultural/political/social impact the star and film had relevant to the film’s era. Why was the actor in this film important? What barriers did both the actor and film break? Again, this is not entirely a research paper. It’s important to see your own
reaction to the performance and how you see the effect of the actor/film in regard to cultural/political or social influence. As with Response 1, it’s integral to see the actor in this film through your eyes!  The minimum word requirement is 600 to 750
words but feel free to expand if needed. Cite

Numerical values describing the resources

1) Identify a soil resource of interest (this should be a region or county) anywhere in the world and describe how it is being used and why it is important.
2) Summarize attributes of soil and water resources that exist in that region. Please use a tabular format or list that includes numerical values describing the resources. This information should help you understand how susceptible soil and water resources might be to degradation. Please cite any data sources you use to develop this section.
3) Summarize important factors (climate, land use, demographic), that have and will likely cause soil change. Include an original graphic or table that helps you summarize ideas and explain relationships between factors and functions. If you adopt an image or figure that someone else published indicate this in the figure or table legend.
4) Speculate about the current soil condition (provide evidence if you can) and discuss how factors identified above (#3) are likely to influence soil function.
5) Explain why you think this soil could or could not resist or recover from the degradative processes identified above.
6) Discuss the implications of soil change for water quality and quantity.
