What is Language? For the final assignment in this course

What is Language?   For the final assignment in this course, I…

What is Language?

For the final assignment in this course, I would like you to revisit this question with the goal of demonstrating to me how your knowledge about language has changed over the course of this semester.

Your final product will have two parts:

For the first part, I would like you to create word or concept mapmind map (see the explanation on this website Links to an external site.if you are unfamiliar with idea maps), infographicor some other graphic method of your preference that will allow you to organize your ideas semantically.

Note that when you create an idea map, the goal is to organize the ideas logically, i.e., think about how they relate to each other and how they relate to the main idea.

There is no single correct response, but keep in mind that I’m looking for evidence of learning.

You may choose to look at what you submitted back in Module 1 and build upon that.  In addition, it may be helpful to complete the following steps before creating your graphic map of ideas:

Brainstorm what you know about language now.  Given what you’ve learned in this course, how would you be able to expand upon your original ideas in response to this question? What new terms and concepts would you be able to include now that you have completed the course? You may want to think broadly about the main topics we’ve covered for inspiration.

Jot down everything that comes to mind. The best way to do this is to create a list as you think. Don’t spend too much time writing down lengthy ideas. This should be a quick brainstorming activity.

Review your list and organize your ideas in a meaningful/logical way.  I would like to “see” your understanding of how the concepts and terms you’ve learned relate to one another.

For the second part, you will write a brief reflection (about 1 single-spaced paragraph, definitely no more than 1/2 page) about one thing that you learned in this course that was surprising or that piqued your interest.

I’m looking for a carefully-formulated, meaningful, and concise reflection. I don’t want you to tell me that your understanding of language has changed – I want you to show me that it has changed.

Discuss the way in which the various sensory systems develop

Discuss the way in which the various sensory systems develop and how sensory development impacts a child’s perception of the world.

Explain in your post how you might suggest a parent adjusts the home environment and social situations to allow for the infant and young child’s system to develop.

How do the senses impact the growth and development of children?
Stimulating the senses helps with a child’s creativity and imagination, allows children to regulate, develop social skills with peers such as cooperation and turn-taking, develops motor skills, and teaches self-expression.
How does development impact sensory perception?
One area of perception that is learned throughout development is the ability to perceptually bind sensory information. Perceptual binding is essentially the ability to take two or more pieces of sensory information and integrate them into a single perception.

Describe the difference between dual process models of persuasion

Describe the difference between dual process models of persuasion. Give and clear and distinct example of a time you were persuaded to engage in a specific persuasive behavior (buying something, agreeing with someone, acting on a political agenda -these are just a few possibilities).  Which route of processing did you take and why do you think you chose that route, rather than the other?   Why was your chosen route successful in persuading you to engage in that behavior while the other might not have been?  Again, be specific.
