A gene that encodes a protein involved in the formation of clathrin-coated vesicles
Suppose you are studying an autoimmune disease thought to involve a defect in transport via clathrin-coated vesicles. In order to characterize expression of CLTC, a gene that encodes a protein involved in the formation of clathrin-coated vesicles, you perform immunolabeling and qPCR. The data you obtained is shown below. Figure A shows representative immunolabeling data of tissue samples from a control family member and a patient with the disease under investigation. Blue indicates DAPI staining of cell nuclei, and brown represents CLTC expression. Figure B shows qPCR data of CLTC expression relative to housekeeping gene GAPDH. *, P < 0.01
