Controlled Cystic fibrosis primary care
Controlled cystic fibrosis primary care. hi. I’m working on a case study and my preceptor didn’t know how to answer this question.
A 56 YO female with H/O of controlled cystic fibrosis came to primary care for labs and C/O nocturia and polyphagia. No mention of polydipsia.
She has a 4lb weight loss within these three weeks no matter how much she’s eating. She is also fatigued. Symptoms occurring for the last 2-3 weeks.
Abnormal labs are A1C of 8.2; OGTT-1hr of 194; Fasting glucose of 232; UA showed +2 for glucose; Na+ 134; WBC 4,400. lipid panel was normal. BMI is 23.7. No family history of diabetes either one or two. So most likely diagnosis is cystic fibrosis-related diabetes. what I am having trouble with is my differentials.
They have to be endocrine-based and I was told that thyroid diseases can’t be used.
Thyroid labs were normal. I was going to use type 1 and type 2 but I don’t know if that is right. Can
