Deoxyribonucleic Acid damage. What kind of DNA repair would you expect to be used to repair DNA damage caused by radiation that astronauts might be exposed to on their way to Mars and why?

I suspect its Base excision repair (BER) but unsure if other methods are used in combination with BER.
