Reflection and Application Depleting Marine Resources in Fiji The sea is a source of food for people living in the coastal areas and islands in Fiji. For others, it is a source of livelihood by way of fishing and selling their catch for money. But economic interests, easy access to the sea and lack of resources to monitor the seas have resulted in marine resources in Fiji being depleted. It is not only the economic interests of locals but foreign fishing vessels as well that have resulted in the depletion of fish stocks in Fiji waters over the years.
