How does the war on terror change the way Americans on Domestic and National Security?

How does the war on terror change the way Americans on Domestic and National Security? (also, in light of the January 6th incident at the Capitol).  As well, what are some threats that can be examined further?  Based on our study so far, is the U.S. well-positioned in law, case law, and/or policy to counter the threat?
