Diagram Drawing:  A diagram of an early childhood interest center a summary of the items below, either for art, music, movement, or dramatic play center.   You only do one center.

  Choose one of the centers below in this assignment.  You only need to have one! 

You can do music & movement together if you choose. 

   You must also show how you will display children’s creative work.  

Drawings must be in ink or markers and be on 81/2 x 11 size paper.

Floor plan illustrating the arrangement of furniture, supplies, and materials.  You must label this center and tell what age group it is for.  You can create it on your Computer or you can draw your own.

You must label each piece of furniture and label what will be on each shelf.  You must show where children will enter and exit this center.  Just draw a small line and write “enter” and “exit”. 

You must show what other centers children  will walk through to get to this center. Just label the centers that will be around your center.

  Written Assignment:  Plan and design an ideal interest center that supports creative activities & aesthetic responses for a toddler, preschool, or school-age group of children.

The assignment must be typed in at least a 12 point font & be several pages in length.   It must follow the plan below!

Written Summary about the Learning Center you chose including the following items:

Descriptions of the physical space and climate ( what do children feel when they are there?) of the environment.

 

 Tell how the space will contain the furniture, supplies & materials for the learning center.

 Explain how children will enter and exit the center from other places in the room.

 

Itemized list of all furniture, supplies, & materials.

 

This must also include specific materials that support multicultural diversity.

 

Must include a list of aesthetic enhancements – What you will add to make the center beautiful & captivating.

Descriptive plan for storing materials and supplies for children, including children with disabilities.

 

Proposal for displaying children’s creative efforts in the center you are creating.  If, for example, you’re doing dramatic play and/or music or movement, this is not a usual place for displaying children’s creative efforts. 

You will have to decide what to display to show what children are doing and creating.  This could be unusual or usual for this center.

 

You must also include an explanation of how you will make sure things are safe, healthy, and accessible for all children.
