Economic equality

Democracy and Communism Karl Marx thought Communism would bring ultimate equality. Economic equality was more important to him than anything else; he had little to say about democracy or freedom because he thought once economic equality was achieved, everything else would fall into place on the foundation of a classless society in which no one can profit off of another person’s labor.

Critics often claim that the ideology of Communism, when put into practice, inevitably leads to government repression, lack of freedom, use of force on citizens, etc. In other words, repression of peoples’ freedom is inherent to Communism (built in to the ideology). Why? Would it ever be possible to have BOTH Communism and a free democratic society?
