The emerging environmental challenges facing managers today
Case: How will this help?
Chloe Hay is a student at the Richmond Business School. When she graduates she has decided to follow a graduate management program offered by one of the large local employers. So far she has thoroughly enjoyed her courses in accounting, finance, and marketing. These were subjects that provided her with some clear-cut answers; however, one of her second-semester subjects is causing her problems. The professor in her organizational behavior course is telling her that when it comes to managing people, there really are no black-and-white clear-cut answers. So far the professor has discussed the historical background of organizational behavior and outlined some of the emerging environmental challenges facing managers today and says that behavioral science concepts play a big role in the course. Chloe is a bit upset. She came to business school to get answers on how to be an effective manager, but this course does not seem to be heading in that direction.
