Exams and assignments
There are multiple ways to learn about a government that don’t involve exams and assignments. One of the best ways is to read the news fairly regularly. Each unit I will offer an extra credit assignment and any points earned will be added directly to your exam for that unit. For this unit, if you want the extra credit points, you can find two news articles dealing with government (federal is preferred since we mostly cover federal government in this class, though if you can find something state or local level but can tie it to something we have learned, that is ok, too).
To earn the credit, you should send me the links to the news article from mainstream sources only (ABC, NBC, New York Times, Fox, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, etc.). the links (maximum 2) and at least one paragraph for each telling my why you chose it, what is significant about it and how it ties back to something we are learning or have learned.
I will award 5 points for each link that you send for a maximum of 10 points and those points will be added to your first exam grade. This is an optional assignment, it is not required. If you have any questions, reach out. To get the credit, I must receive your extra credit before you take your first exam in a few weeks
