Pillars of the federal government system

The merit principle is one of the pillars of the federal government system. Some people would suggest that it is under attack because of Employment Equity  Do you think Employment Equity program should be changed or eliminated?  Explain.

Another principle of the public service is that of “collective bargaining” , or the right to strike for non-essential services. Recently, the federal government stopped two strikes: the Air Canada strike and that of Canada Post.  Many thought the government intervention nterfered with the collective bargaining process.  What do you think?. Police, like government, is very much a hierarchical organization.  Do you think police would work better and be more efficient if they had fewer layers of organization and were less centralized?  Why/why not?  Explain.
