Two forms of government

Select two forms of government that you are interested in learning more about. Choose one from each column:

RepublicConsensus
AutocracyConstitutional Monarchy

Formulate five questions you would like to explore about these types of governments. For example:

  • How is the leader chosen?
  • How is this government different from the one in my country?

Using at least three reliable sources, do research to find information about each form of government, including an example of a country in which it is used.

Record the information required for each type of source. If not all of the required information is available, don’t worry – just fill in the information that is available.

Using the criteria from Learning Activity 1.1, show that your sources are valid and accurate.

TASK 1- here you should include 5 questions you will ask for each government type.

The government type should be chosen from the 4 choices provided. Constitutional Monarchy is one type, Consensus, Republic and Dictatorships are the others.

Democracy is a general concept which is incorporated in the 3 different types of democratic governments listed above.

Task 3: Createan artifact (something you will hand in for assessment)

Drawing from your research and survey answers, describe your form of government based on the information you’ve collected. You may writea paragraph, createa PowerPoint presentation, design a poster, createan infographic, or present a speech promoting the form of government you’ve chosen for starting your imaginary country.

Submit the following documents:

  • Your two research documents
  • Your documentation of the sources used
  • Your artifact promoting the government you want to establish on your imaginary island

The island artifact should include not just provide research information but it should selectively promote the government typeand provide the following:

a description of the structure of the government as it would be applied to a new country with 100 people
how laws will be made
rights and responsibilities of government and citizens
Provide an explanation for why the form of government chosen is the most suitable based on the situation and number of people in the country.
