Functioning parathyroid glands
The thyroid gland is impossible to live without as it affects almost everything in the body but what about the parathyroid glands? When someone has their thyroid removed they often have some, if not all, of the parathyroid glands, removed. Does taking a thyroid medication, such as Thyroxine, also help with regulating/producing calcium? Is someone without 4 functioning parathyroid glands now calcium deficient and required to take calcium supplements or cant he body retain relatively normal homeostasis without the parathyroid glands?
