Identify and explain 3 games you would play with the children at this daycare
The daycare you work at has a good size main room where there are many learning centres, and children can really spread out. There is a second room that is used only for rest time, and a third room that has an creative playground partially built in and partially moveable that you feel will challenge children. Often the children are involved in the re-positioning of the movable pieces. Here, children can engage in climbing, crawling, sliding, hopping, jumping, balancing, rolling, throwing, catching, running …. So many physical challenges can happen in this inside playground. As well, there is a fantastic outdoor play space attached to the centre that has trees to climb, sand, water, grass, a bridge, a garden and a lot of space to run (and a paved area for bike riding.) So, you see even more climbing, crawling, sliding, hopping, jumping, balancing, rolling, throwing, catching, running… as well as riding, water and sand play … There are also moveable pieces that the children move around, often in ‘teams’. The gross motor opportunities offered to the children at this centre are very satisfactory to you and your co-workers. There are so many opportunities for physical growth and development at this centre. Jair is a three-year-old. Malek is a four-year-old. Shiloh is a five-year-old. 1. Identify 10 gross motor skills each of these children should have at their age. 2. Identify and explain 3 games you would play with the children at this daycare – using this wonderful selection of physical prospects. (Games – not activities.) 3. Summarize what you would expect to see these three children doing during a one hour outside playtime
