Global communities and Political Ideologies

Global communities and Political Ideologies to answer the following question: Sarnia is an American born in Houston, Texas. Sarnia is very smart and is a great soccer player, she is so good she has the opportunity to go to school on a soccer scholarship. However during her senior year Sarnia is devastated as she finds out that she is one month pregnant with her and her boyfriend Thomas baby.

She begins to get depressed as she knows she is not ready to have a baby, she also feels betrayed by her body as she was on birth control and felt sure that nothing could happen. She doesn’t feel any support from her boyfriend Thomas who comes from a conservative family and is more than excited to welcome the baby. Worse yet, the Supreme court just passed a law making abortions and birth control illegal in the United States.

Isn’t this supposed to be a democratic country? Sarnia begins venting about her situation to her cousins in Germany where abortions are legal and access to reproductive contraception. In the midst of feeling hopeless Sarnia is considering to get an illegal abortion, that is both dangerous and can kill her. When she shares her feelings with Thomas he threatens to both call the police on her and leave her. Sarnia feels trapped, alone and worse forced into having a baby she does not want.
