Even though his physician had warned him about shoveling snow, a 65-year-old male collapsed in his garage after shoveling heavy wet snow in his driveway. The ambulance brought the man to the hospital emergency department in full cardiac arrest. Family members stated that the patient had an enlarged heart and was on prescription medication for hypertensive heart disease. Cardioversion and external chest compression cardiopulmonary resuscitation were initiated but were unsuccessful, and the man was pronounced dead 50 minutes after arrival, The patient was never admitted to the hospital, all care was given in the ED.
