Examine the impact of technology in HRM

1. Using the textbook and at least three reliable sources, provide a detailed explanation of the reasons for the trend toward increasing technology in
HRM. Examine the impact of technology in HRM on a company’s ability to compete in a local and global marketplace. (Approximately 2 to 1 page, double-
spaced.)
2. List and describe a variety of ways technology is currently incorporated into HRM, focusing on areas mentioned in Chapters 1-5 of the textbook.
Although we have not yet discussed the full breadth of technology and HRM, include a brief overview of areas such as e-training, e-compensation and
other components of e-hr or e-hrm. Include at least one emerging technology that may have an impact on HRM. (Approximately 1 ½ to 2 pages, double-
spaced.)
3. Most organizations incorporate Social Media in a variety of ways. Please address the following questions and cases. (Approximately 2 to 3 pages double-

a. List some of the advantages and disadvantages of using various forms of Social Media as a tool which would assist in HRM (please include
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, SnapChat, LinkedIn, and any other platforms you believe employers might use).
b. Read Case Study: HRM Social – Using Social Media in Hiring Poses Discrimination Risk on p. 59 of your textbook and answer questions #1 and #2
of the case.
c. Read Case Study: HRM Social – Conducting Background Checks via Social Media on p. 131 of your textbook and answer questions #1 and #2 of

view of your posts would be as positive as your legitimate contacts/friends.
4. Put yourself in the role of an employee in a small company with no HRM professional – you fill this role as part of your duties because you are the only
employee with an education in this area. The owner has not used Social Media at all in the past, but the company is poised for rapid expansion and the
owner would like you to advise her as to how to incorporate this tool in HRM. In one or two paragraphs, what would you highlight and recommend as
practices to utilize, as well as practices to avoid? Be sure to back up your statements with in-text citations – this is a research-based report you would
submit as a professional, and needs to be grounded in fact to ensure that the owner is abiding by government regulations, and will not be sued due to poor
