Capitalize on the opportunity to implement an IT department
Since Meadow Hills has $238 million in reserves the CEO is in a better position than most to capitalize on the opportunity to implement an IT department so they can become more competitive with other health organizations. First and foremost, in their IT strategic plan, they need to hire a CIO to get an accurate and clear sense of direction where the organization needs to go in order to grow and bring in more revenue. They must be concerned with implementing only value-based technology with a projected rate of return. The CEO can also improve care quality by adding transparency to his IT strategy. A CPOE and or web presence for the hospital with ease of access for patients to view test results, schedule appointments, speak to their physician, order prescriptions, and see their billing records would tremendously advance the organization making it more competitive with other hospitals. There is a lot to be desired when clinicians and staff have advanced training and better tools to work with like a CPOE increasing employee retention. Comment on the above paragraph.
