Applying an integrated approach
Applying an integrated approach
1.19 Consider everything that you have learned about solution-focused therapy. Describe one way in which a solution focused approach or technique could be integrated successfully with one of the other counselling approaches you have learned about (e.g., cognitive-behaviour therapy, person centred therapy, or gestalt therapy).
Answer 1st attempt To some degree, therapy approaches have some overlapping principles and depending on the needs of the client for that session a therapist may integrate an approach where questioning style changes to gather further information, get the client to open up further, view situations from a different prospective, which will hopefully gain better results. The main approach can still be SFT, which you will bring the clients focus back to that approach.
then l wrote this to add to my answer 2nd attempt When SFT is combined with other therapies its best when using a strengths-based approach. Eg. SFT and Narrative therapy approaches see the client as the expert in their own lives and using mindfulness, motivational interviewing and problem-solving approaches
They then responded with this: Please provide specific examples of how techniques from SFT and narrative therapy may complement each other approach.
This was my anwer just above but BUT they wanted a specific EXAMPLE here of how SFT could be combined with another approach .
Could you please help me giving a specific EXAMPLE of the combined SFT and Narrative into a technique to be used in a counselling session. thank you
