Why is it advantageous for the cell membrane to be fluid in nature?
The degree of fluidity of the membrane is determined by the lipid content of the membrane. The fluid nature of the membrane indicates function of cell growth, division and endocytosis. The plasma membrane regulates the entry and exit of the cell. Many molecules cross the cell membrane by diffusion and osmosis.
