Michael Jackson’s death

There is a CT about Michael Jackson’s death: “MICHAEL JACKSON WAS MURDERED BY IRAN!”. The theory says that “MJ was murdered by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to distract attention from the flailing Iranian regime. MJ’s death and the subsequent mourning in the West distracted the media from the Iranian elections and subsequent protests” (Fuertes-Knight, 2012). In my opinion, this theory has almost no evidence or logic.

Obscurity: they reject conventional information and seek out exotic and little-known variants (Pipes, 1997). Obviously, people tend to create various CTs based on the suspicious death of their role models and celebrities, because they do not want to believe that popular people (some fans equate celebrities to Gods) can die for simple reasons. And the theory of Iranian involvement in MJ’s death is quite absurd because it was just a coincidence.

Cavalier attitude toward facts. At times, conspiracy theorists make these up out of whole cloth.” (Pipes, 1997, pp. 40-42). There were no preconditions to the connection between the Iranian government and Michael Jackson, and the correlation between his death and conflict in Iran was not supported by any facts.
