There are many important elements to a grant proposal, the writer thinks that two of the most important elements are the need statement and the evaluation plan.

The need statement is important because it demonstrates to the funding organization the need for the proposed program or project (BIT, 2020).

Without a strong need statement, it will be difficult to convince the organization to fund the proposal. The need statement should be

well researched and clearly demonstrate the problem that the proposed program or project will address (Congress et al, 2017). \

For example, if a counseling agency is proposing a new program to address the needs of underserved populations in the community, the need statement should clearly demonstrate the need for such a program.

The need statement should describe the underserved populations that will be served by the program and the challenges they face in accessing counseling services.

The need statement should also describe the potential impact of the proposed program on the community.

The evaluation plan is important because it shows the funding organization how the proposed program or project will be evaluated. An evaluation plan is essential in order to demonstrate that the program or project is effective and is meeting the goals that were set forth in the proposal (BIT, 2020).

Without an evaluation plan, it will be difficult to show that the program or project is successful and worthy of continued funding. An example of this would be a counseling agency that is proposing a new program to address the needs of victims of domestic violence.

The evaluation plan should describe how the agency will measure the success of the program (Instumentl, 2022). The evaluation plan should include a description of the data that will be collected and how it will be used to measure the success of the program.

The evaluation plan should also describe how the agency will use the data to improve the program over time.

Example of need statements from counseling or human service agencies include:

-The proposed program will address the needs of underserved populations in the community who do not have access to counseling services.

-The proposed program will address the needs of victims of domestic violence who do not have access to counseling services.

-The proposed program will address the needs of children in the foster care system who do not have access to counseling services.

Last, examples of evaluation plans from an counseling or human service agency should include:

– The proposed program will be evaluated by conducting surveys with participants before and after the program to measure changes in knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors.

-The proposed program will be evaluated by conducting focus groups with participants to gather qualitative data about their experiences with the program.

-The proposed program will be evaluated by comparing the number of clients who access counseling services before and after the program is implemented.
