Case study: MN
Mn has type 2 Diabetes and was diagnosed at the age of 50 due to being overweight, his being overweight is due to his poor eating habit. He has high blood pressure. He has had a diagnosis for 5 years and is on metformin and insulin His wife died 8 years ago and from then Mn has been living on his own which has changed his lifestyle habit. Mn is a bus driver and doesn’t have much time to make his own healthy meals therefore he relies on fast foods and ready meals. He frequently encounters low blood sugar episodes (hypoglycemia)which he usually has snacks and energy drinks like Lucozade which keeps him going anytime he is working and experiences it, he struggles to control his diabetes when he is under stress. Mn lives on his own and gets depressed as he does not have anyone to talk to at home ever since his wife died. MN normally takes his medication as prescribed, but he has trouble having a balanced diet due to his job and does not have anyone at home to prepare healthy meals for him. MN regularly consumes beer while smoking. He feels his diabetes is out of control and is generally dissatisfied with his life right now.
