In your animal care facility, you are required to place a catheter into an animal’s vein. As the catheter is considered a sharp item, you are very careful with your handling of the IV catheter, but after inserting the catheter in the animal’s vein, it struggles, the catheter comes out of the vein, and due to the struggle, you accidentally acquire a needlestick injury which is contaminated with blood.
