A2A: Portfolio Representation of Learner and Healthcare Professional Task 1 in C464 Introduction to Communication represents me as a learner and a healthcare professional. Task 1 was about the need to change Utah’s sexual education curriculum. The task showed that as a healthcare professional, I want to help change the education my patients and the youth receive as it can affect their lives. The education they receive can have positive and negative outcomes, and as a healthcare professional, I want to make a difference. The task represents me as a learner because once I got passionate about the topic, I researched the state’s sex education, what prevented the changes in education, and what type of education teens needed. I learned many things I didn’t know about the sex education curriculum and what prevents our legislature from passing a new curriculum.
