Professional Disclosure Statement Imagine that you are in private practice

Imagine that you are in private practice and are developing your promotional media (e.g. website, pamphlets, social media pages).

Draft a professional disclosure statement 1-2 paragraphs that includes your worldview about the nature of people, how and why they do well or develop problems, and how counseling can assist them in working through challenges.

Note that the ACA ethical code does not allow counselors to make any statements of guarantee—so be mindful about not including this in your statement! This statement should succinctly convey your personal model of counseling.

What you would put in a professional disclosure statement?
The ACA specifies that the informed consent must include the nature of all services provided, counselor credentials and relevant experience, fees, billing information, confidentiality, supervision arrangements, how records will be handled, and more.
What is a good example of self-disclosure?
We self-disclose verbally, for example, when we tell others about our thoughts, feelings, preferences, ambitions, hopes, and fears. And we disclose nonverbally through our body language, clothes, tattoos, jewelry, and any other clues we might give about our personalities and lives.
