Proposed bills or recently enacted statutes (Federal or State) that effect business, industry, or commerce

1. Identify two proposed bills or recently enacted statutes (Federal or State) that effect business, industry, or commerce. One way to determine if a bill is a good candidate is to ask if it will effect the inputs, processes, or outputs (either internally or externally) of a particular company or industry, is it regulatory in nature, will effect the costs of doing business, or will effect the markets or customers served by a particular business or industry. You will need to be able to post the URL of the full text of the bill or statute as an attachment.

If you are in Missouri, you may want to start at www.moga.state.mo.us, or you may find a similar site for your state or for the federal legislatures. If you find a bill, do not forget to determine its status in the other house, or if similar legislation is also happening simultaneously in the other house.

You may also want to surf the various election web sites, and those that are published about representatives and senators voting records as well as campaign financing sources and amounts. Most legislators (federal and state) have web sites these days, for constituent communications or for campaigning.

2. For each bill/statute, write  one-page, single space summary of the bill/statute.
