Cities and urban planners are faced with many different challenges that are often exacerbated by increasing rural to urban migration and rapid urbanization of natural landscapes. As a result, planners are faced with the challenge to find sustainable solutions in different sectors, including housing and transportation. However, when it comes to sustainable urban development, often the focus is on environmental and economic sustainability with social dimensions receiving less attention.
