Recruitment strategy
Pineapple, a small local tech company, currently needs to hire 15 Software Engineers for its Waterloo location.
Typically, the recruitment team (a team of 4 skilled recruiters) attends career fairs and hosts networking
sessions at various venues, including the University of Waterloo, to attract applicants and collect resumes. Due
to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of these events have been put on hold or cancelled, and Pineapple has
noticed they are receiving far fewer applications than they used to pre-COVID.
Pineapple has contacted you, an HR Consultant, to recruitment strategy to attract as many applicants
as possible for the 15 Software Engineer positions, and that the recruiters at Pineapple can implement entirely
remotely (i.e., without physically attending any events or meeting anyone face-to-face). In addition, Pineapple
wants you to incorporate diversity in your recruitment strategy, in line with an organizational goal to “develop a
a diverse workforce that reflects the community in which it operates”.
As an HR Consultant, what would be your proposed recruitment strategy? In your strategy, consider the
following:
1. What recruitment sources/methods would you utilize (i.e., how and where would you promote/advertise
these opportunities and seek out potential applicants)? Explain why each would be effective. [10

2. How would you incorporate diversity in your recruitment strategy? [5 Marks]
3. Why is workforce diversity important? [3 marks]
4. How will the diversity component of your recruitment strategy comply with relevant legislation? [2
