Rights and freedoms for citizens

Which rights and freedoms for citizens do you think our government does a good job of protecting? Why? Which rights and freedoms could it better protect, and how? (Consider some of these as potential examples for our discussion: freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, the right to bear arms, the right to privacy, and the right to a fair trial/punishment.)
