Social Contract Theory The Social contract Theory: After going through this discussion in class; and after reading and studying the power-point slides: you should be able to participate in this discussion. Hobbes, Locke, and Rousseau: All share a vision of the social contract as instrumental in a state’s political stability. However, their respective philosophies were informed by a vastly contrasting vision and outlook of human nature.

In this discussion I want you to explore the different contexts of each philosopher and consider the differences in the social contractual theory that emerged from their distinct perspectives on the state of nature.

Discussion: Simply; compare and contrast Hobbes, Locke, and Rousseau views of the social contract in terms of (State of nature, the role of government in our lives, and what type of government were they proposing and why?). Who do you agree with more? Hobbes, Locke, or Rousseau Substantiate your thought on All philosophers. Expectations: Each student is expected to fully address the topic, and spark a real conversation on line and you’re also expected to respond to at least two students in this discussion.

I will be monitoring this conversion and might add clarifying contribution if need be. Length?: I really do not like to legislate how long each posting should be; as long as the issue(s) are being fully addressed, then it should be OK.
