1) Respond to the message below if you agree or disagree

In the city of Chicago traffic lights have speed cameras that will fine you for going 6 or more mph above the speed limit. Ninth Ward Ald. Anthony Beale, Is leading an effort to bring the minimum to 10mph. He wants to do this because he claims that these fines are hurting the black and latino communities the most. The mayor Lori Lightfoot is fighting to prevent the minimum speed for a fine being increased due to an increase in crashes recently. The speeding fines have also given the city tens of millions of dollars.

Lightfoot made a parliamentary move last wednesday to delay the vote to raise the minimum which did not sit well with Beale and his supporters. Beale said to Lightfoot “You are changing the rules as you see fit” in which Lightfoot responded saying it is “not debatable”. Unhappy about with Lightfoot Beale said “We can’t debate it. We can’t bring it to the floor. That’s a dictatorship. Not a democracy”. The unwillingness to discuss an important political matter is not good and is why Beale compared Lightfoot to a dictator although I would argue that’s a little exaggeratory. A fascist characteristic seen in this article is opposition not being permitted.

I am definitely not saying Lightfoot is a fascist by any means!

What do you guys think is the right decision. Should they Keep the minimum the same or raise it?
