The fine-needle aspiration was strongly suspicious for papillary carcinoma

History: The patient is a 50-year-old female who noted a swelling in the neck. An outpatient workup was done. A thyroid scan and thyroid sonogram revealed moderate enlargement of the left lobe of the thyroid gland measuring 1.1×2.2cm a solid nodule at the anterior aspect of the mid of the left lobe of the thyroid measuring approximately 2.4cm, normal right lobe of the thyroid, and a small cyst in the mid of the right lobe measuring 2.3mm. thyroid scan showed a hot nodule, which is usually negative for malignancy. The fine-needle aspiration was strongly suspicious for papillary carcinoma. Diagnosis: Papillary carcinoma of the thyroid, left and right lobes, with the follicular pattern. Papillary carcinoma is positive in one cervical lymph node.
