Supply chains and product availability

The recent Covid virus had an enormous effect on supply chains and product availability. Many organizations have global suppliers due to costs, available resources, available capacity, etc. Do you feel that organizations should rethink their approach to global sourcing of supply chains? What if it means increased costs? If you were the Supply Manager, what would you have done to prevent or at least soften the isssues that Covid caused within supply chains and product availability?
