Talent development and the employee experience
From an Employee’s Perspective
“Dana, you know, I have been thinking we need to look at employee development and talent management—from our employees’ perspective.”
“I think that is a really exciting idea! This idea could completely change how much time and energy we put into recruiting and training,” Dana enthused.
“No, no, Dana! Not really—I did not come up with it! It is our assignment this week!” Kimberly laughed.
What is the employee experience from the employee’s perspective? The employee perspective is when an employee considers their work more than just a job. Employers hope for that possibility, even though it is unlikely every employee in the organization will attain a high level of enjoyment from their work and their work environment. The employee perspective means pride in their employment and a passion of what they do, whom they do it with, and respect for their organizational leadership.
Read the scenario and answer the question below.
Apply material from the assigned readings to help Dana and Kimberly provide perspectives on the two topics of talent development and the employee experience from the employees’ perspective.
