Forms of taxes levied by state and federal governments

Description of  the various forms of taxes levied by  state and federal governments. States share a significant portion of their tax bases with the other two levels of government. As shown are income taxes are primarily the province of the federal government, consumption taxes (general sales and excise taxes) of state governments and property taxes of local governments. What type of taxing system do you think is most fair to citizens, and why?
