Time Children Spend on Tech Devices

Should Parents Limit How Much Time Children Spend on Tech Devices? The article by Michael Gonchar is the topic for my argumentative essay and the topic of my discussion. I find this topic most promising and relatable in my present life journey as the mother of a four-year-old daughter. In this article, the writer said that American people for a generation have only used a single screen(television). But due to the advancement of technology we have many screens like I-pads, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and much more.

And finally, the writer has asked the question to the reader whether children are spending much of their time before screens. In this article Michael has given a link to another article “Steve Jobs was a low-tech Parent” by Nick Biltong where Nick explains he was completely shocked to know that Steve Jobs has limited screen time for their children which was the opposite of his thought.

Nick also gives examples of Chris Anderson, the former editor of Wired and now chief executive of 3D Robotics, a drone maker, who has instituted time limits and parental controls on every device in his home. And besides Steve Jobs and Chris Anderson Nick also give examples of other tech leaders like Dick Costello, Ali Partovi, Evan Williams, and Alex Constantinople who have applied restrictions on their child screen time much more than non-tech parents stating drawback of excess screen time on Children.

Like Two Sides of a Coin, there might be both pros and cons to this but, I certainly accept that parents should limit the time children spend on tech devices. Also, after limiting their time on tech devices, they should actively be monitored and motivated to watch activities that might enhance their learning process, and this should be continued up to a certain age till children get some maturity.
