The complexity of environmental scanning depends on the following: Perceptions within the company of the

degree of environmental uncertainty (most typically this is a function of the rate of environmental change)

 

Perceptions of the degree of environmental complexity (this is generally influenced by the range of activities and markets in which the firm is currently and prospectively involved).

 

Can someone please help me make better sense of this concept?
