The event of a natural disaster
In the event of a natural disaster , low income households will receive the listed provisions to assist in remedying and stabilizing their financial situation. Families and individuals will receive a housing voucher (under the Housing Voucher Mobility Demonstration program) to help with relocation costs. For 1 year from the date of the natural disaster each household will be automatically applied for food stamps, and children under the age of 18 will receive a savings account with direct deposit payments bi-yearly. This bill is intended to aid in supporting low income families in the aftermath of a natural disaster, prevent homelessness, and ensure that children are receiving an equal chance at economic stability in the years following a disaster.
The term “natural disasters” shall include Floods, Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Typhoons, Pandemics, or other major adverse events resulting from climate-related or natural occurrences.
